Pests We Treat
Our Home Protection Plan covers all common household pests with regular treatments throughout the year, including:
Crawling Insects: Ants (including carpenter ants), cockroaches, beetles, centipedes, earwigs, millipedes, silverfish, and spiders
Flying & Stinging Insects: Wasps, hornets, bees, and carpenter bees
Rodents: Mice and rats with expert exclusion services to prevent re-entry
Termites: Regular termite inspections and monitoring with treatment options available
Additional Pests: Fleas, ticks, and other household pests
What’s Included in Each Visit
Every Home Protection Plan service visit follows our proven 5-step process:
Thorough Inspection: Our technician examines your home inside and out, identifying current pest activity, vulnerabilities, and conditions attracting pests.
Accurate Diagnosis: We identify the exact pest species and understand their behavior to develop the most effective treatment strategy.
Targeted Treatment: We apply safe, EPA-approved products specifically chosen for the pests we’ve identified, targeting high-activity areas and entry points.
Detailed Service Report: You receive an email report immediately after service explaining what we found, what treatments we applied, and which products we used, along with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all products.
Ongoing Monitoring: We keep detailed records and refine treatments based on seasonal patterns and your home’s specific needs.
Bonus Services Included:
- Termite monitor inspection
- Spider web removal around first floor exterior using our specialized spider brush
- Identification of pest-attracting conditions
- Recommendations for preventative actions you can take between services
You also receive unlimited free return visits if pests come back between scheduled services—no questions asked, no extra charge.
Interior vs. Exterior Treatment
Quarterly Exterior Treatment (Included):
During each quarterly visit, your technician applies a perimeter treatment around your home’s exterior for proactive protection. This barrier treatment is applied to foundation perimeters, doors, windows, utility penetrations, and landscaping areas. The residual protection lasts approximately 30 days, which is why we schedule quarterly treatments to maintain continuous coverage. This exterior barrier prevents pests from entering your home in the first place by killing them as they attempt to invade.
Interior Treatment (Available Anytime Upon Request):
If you want additional interior protection beyond the quarterly exterior service, you can schedule interior treatment anytime as part of your Home Protection Plan. Interior service includes treatment of baseboards, wall voids, kitchen and bathroom areas, closets, attics, basements, and crawl spaces. Interior treatment requires briefly stepping outside while products dry (typically 30-60 minutes), after which your family and pets can resume normal activities.
To schedule interior service, simply call 800-886-7327 or email [email protected]. All products used—both exterior and interior—are EPA-approved and safe for families and pets once dried.
How Our Treatments Work
Excel uses Integrated Pest Management (IPM)—an industry-leading approach that combines knowledge, prevention, and targeted treatment for maximum effectiveness with minimal environmental impact.
Rather than relying on heavy pesticide applications, we use our deep knowledge of pest biology and behavior to target treatments precisely where they’re needed. This means reduced pesticide usage, safer environments for families and pets, and better long-term results. We exclusively use EPA-registered pesticides approved for residential use, tested and approved by the Environmental Protection Agency, and applied according to strict label directions.
Our process includes: Inspect (examine conditions that attract pests), Identify (diagnose the pest species and life cycle), Treat (apply targeted treatments to areas where pests live and hide), Monitor (track effectiveness and adjust strategies), and Prevent (recommend environmental changes that reduce pest attraction). We’re members of the National Pest Management Association (NPMA) and follow strict environmental and safety protocols, using only the minimum pesticide necessary to achieve results.
Treatment Schedule
Our Home Protection Plan includes four quarterly treatments per year, strategically timed to address pest activity as it changes with the seasons. Each treatment lasts approximately 30 days, with quarterly scheduling maintaining overlap to ensure no gaps in coverage.
Typical Treatment Schedule (New Jersey):
Spring (March-April): Perimeter treatment targets pests awakening from winter dormancy before the summer pest season begins.
Early Summer (May-June): Follow-up treatment maintains the spring barrier and addresses any pests that bypassed initial treatment.
Late Summer (July-August): Treatment during peak pest activity maintains protection during the season’s highest pest pressure.
Fall (September-October): Critical treatment as pests seek entry into homes for winter shelter.
In northern New Jersey, winter pest activity decreases significantly, and many customers pause service during winter months when pest pressure is lower, then resume in spring. In South Florida’s warm climate, pests remain active year-round, and we recommend continuing quarterly treatments throughout the year.
Your quarterly schedule is flexible—we can adjust timing based on your preferences or needs. Simply call 800-886-7327 or email [email protected] to arrange service outside your scheduled quarterly visits. When you email, our customer service team will typically reply within a couple of hours—no need to wait days for a response.
What to Expect During Service
Before Service: We’ll confirm your appointment 24 hours in advance. You don’t need to empty cabinets, remove items, or vacate your home.
During Service (Typical visit: 45 minutes to 1 hour):
Your uniformed technician will arrive, perform exterior perimeter treatment, inspect termite monitors, and remove spider webs around the first floor exterior. If you’ve requested interior treatment, they’ll apply targeted treatments to interior areas while you stay in a different area. Your technician will point out any pest activity, entry points, or conditions attracting pests and answer your questions.
After Service: You’ll receive an email report explaining what was done, what products were applied, and observations made. SDS sheets for all products used are provided via email. Your next quarterly appointment will be scheduled before the technician leaves, and you’ll have access to view service history and reports anytime via our customer portal.
You’re Not Required To:
- Be home during service (though you’re welcome to be)
- Empty cabinets or move items
- Prepare your yard
- Sign anything (unless requesting interior treatment)
All products are EPA-approved and safe for families and pets once dried (typically 30-60 minutes). If your technician finds active pest problems, they’ll explain findings and recommend treatment options. Remember, if any pests come back between scheduled visits, simply call 800-886-7327 or email [email protected] and we’ll send a technician at no charge.
