Stalking Sneaky Rodents

Nick Ferrante Jr.
THE SITUATION
We secured a new account with a food establishment and connected deli. In the initial weeks of service, we encountered a significant rodent problem, capturing 13-14 mice daily. Despite conducting a thorough inspection and enlisting multiple team members to identify entry points, we were unable to locate rodent entrances.
THE SOLUTION
To address this, Nick implemented Smart System, a monitoring system with both exterior and interior stations to track rodent movements. This allowed Nick to identify areas of high activity, prompting the owner to remove the industrial stoves in his establishment. Once they were taken out, Nick discovered several entry points that he treated and sealed. After sealing all entry points, Nick continued capturing mice until none remained, and the establishment has been rodent-free ever since.

Kevin Adame
THE SITUATION
It can be a nuisance to get ahead of rapid growing pest populations. Oftentimes effective pest control goes beyond just setting traps. We had a customer who was dealing with an expanding nest of rats on their property. Kevin was dispatched to assess the area. It was evident conventional methods were not working, and snap traps were not quick enough to curtail the community.
THE SOLUTION
Kevin started off with the Burrow RX system to channel carbon monoxide into the rat tunnels. When he saw rats attempting to flee, he quickly dispatched them and collapsed tunnel entrances. Kevin managed to catch a few more as they scattered, but many more were trapped inside the tunnels. By the end, Kevin had had captured dozens of rats and the colony was successfully beaten back!

THE SITUATION
A commercial property was acquired with the intention of occupancy within two weeks. However, it was found unfit for use due to a rodent infestation. Rodents were present in both the drop ceiling and attic, and those caught in traps were being cannibalized by roof rats.
THE SOLUTION
David was one of technicians who serviced this commercial property daily. The rat infestation was relentless; one rat even escaped into the attic, leaving its tail behind in a trap. But David and the team kept at it. They successfully rodent-proofed the building, removed over two dozen rodents and made the property safe and ready for its new occupants.

THE SITUATION
A customer contacted Excel because of a rapidly expanding beehive in their backyard. Its closeness to the house and the presence of small children made it a cause for concern.
THE SOLUTION
Upon arriving at the property, David identified a beehive located high in a tall tree. He devised a secure approach using a combination of ladders, scaffolding, and extended pole sprayers to safely access the hive. After equipping himself with the necessary protective gear, David proceeded to treat the hive, carefully removing the bees and scraping away the excess hive material, ensuring that the bees would not return.

THE SITUATION
Ken arrived at the location with service notes indicating an emergency bee situation. The client greeted Ken in a bit of a panic, explaining how she had encountered an unexpected surprise while putting away her garden hose.
THE SOLUTION
After completing the inspection, Ken advised the client that the nest under her hose hookup was not a beehive but a bald-faced hornet nest. Wearing protective gear, Ken sprayed specialized insecticide inside the nest to eliminate the wasps. He then removed the nest, the client’s anxiety subsided and she was back to watering her flowers in under an hour.
